About the Artist/Site
Born August 11,1920 in Vinecreek, KS, 2 miles from current home. Parents were Penn Dutch farmers. Started building retaining wall for house in 1966-67 with native rock, ”melted sand” rock of unique shapes (a la John Mason), put together beautifully. Stone patio in shape of map of US. Started map approximately 1971-72 with rocks collected over the US when he delivered campers. Visitors came as a result of word of mouth. Also built large concrete buffalo sculpture overlooking hill. Raised cattle and buffalo. Lived a few miles West of Longford, KS.
